At St Luke’s, our Christian ethos is at the heart of school life. Staff, Governors, pupils and parents work together in a caring, cohesive and mutually supportive community, guided by our Christian beliefs and values. Our Christian vision permeates all aspects of school life, providing a strong foundation for developing children’s moral, spiritual, social and emotional understanding. We encourage our pupils to grow in faith, compassion and respect, developing an understanding of themselves and others and their place within God’s world.

We value our strong and supportive relationships with the Leicester Diocesan Board of Education, our local clergy and our Anglican Parish Church. These partnerships enrich our worship, our RE provision and the wider spiritual life of our school.

Collective Worship and Prayer

Collective Worship is at the heart of St Luke's school community. It is a time to look beyond ourselves and recognise our responsibility to serve God by loving and caring for others. Collective Worship provides opportunities for reflection, prayer and spiritual growth, enabling children and adults to come together in a shared experience of faith.

It is a time to be thankful, offer support, share hope and celebrate joy. Through stories, Bible teachings, music and moments of quiet reflection, we encourage our children to develop a deeper understanding of Christian values and to consider how they can make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Collective Worship inspires our whole school community to live out our Christian vision and values each day. We encourage everyone to demonstrate kindness, show forgiveness, practise thankfulness, develop perseverance in the face of challenges, and have the aspiration to become the very best version of themselves. Through these values, we nurture children to grow in faith, character and confidence, equipping them to make a positive difference within our school, the local community and the wider world.

Parents and carers have the right to withdraw their child from collective worship should they choose to do so.

Our SIAMS Journey

St Luke’s was last inspected under the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) framework on 14 June 2019, when the school was judged to be Good.

Since this inspection, the SIAMS framework has been updated, and we have continued to develop and strengthen our Christian vision, worship, RE provision and approach to spiritual development. We are committed to ensuring that our Christian distinctiveness continues to shape and influence every aspect of school life and the experiences of our pupils, staff and wider community.

Spirituality at St Luke's

The journey of spirituality is both a collective and deeply personal voyage of discovery which takes many forms, is multidimensional and can incorporate many faiths.
Spirituality, shapes our very essence as people and at St Luke’s we aim to ensure that all children develop their own personal light to share with others. Having a true understanding of our own self helps us navigate through times of trauma and rejoice in moments of awe and wonder.
At St Luke’s we aim to deepen children’s understanding of themselves and nurture their ability to respond positively to a rapidly changing world. Like adults, spirituality is best developed over time and takes in many different aspects of the school curriculum.  
Developing spirituality is everyone’s responsibility at the school. We want children evolve pupil’s understanding of mindfulness, soul and kindness to make a difference in the world. Through the school’s values and culture, we are able to provide children the opportunities of self-growth, self-awareness and spiritual resilience to continually see changing horizons through new eyes.
